PSA, Students: Here’s How You Can Get Discounts on Philippine Airlines Flights

There are discounts for both domestic and international flights.

Students in the Philippines are used to getting discounts on jeepneys, buses, and trains but fewer people know that these perks can extend to air travel, too.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) offers special student fares on select flights, making it easier (and cheaper) for students to fly home, travel for school, or even take a much-needed break during the semester.

Here’s a quick guide on who qualifies and how you can avail of the discount.

Who is eligible?

PAL’s special student fare is available to all Filipino citizens currently enrolled in school. Those booking domestic flights must be 25 years old or below, while students booking international flights must be 12-31 years old and enrolled in partner schools in the US, Canada, or Australia.

Eligible students can get 20% off standard non-promotional domestic flights, while 10% off is offered for select international flights

What documents do you need?

To verify eligibility, students must present proof of current enrollment.

For domestic flights, bring:

  • A valid school ID, or
  • A certificate of enrollment or registration

For international flights, PAL may require:

  • A valid International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
  • A student visa
  • A school ID, or
  • An official letter of acceptance from the school

How to avail of the PAL student discount

Unlike regular promo fares that can be booked online, PAL’s student discount is typically processed in person. Students need to visit a PAL ticket office or accredited travel agent and present their valid ID and proof of enrollment when booking their flight.

Because student fares are subject to seat availability and fare class restrictions, it’s recommended to book early, especially during peak travel periods like semestral breaks and holidays.
