When you hear of Alaminos, Pangasinan, the first thing you’ll probably have in mind is the famous Hundred Islands, but never about this hidden paradise on its outskirts. This idyllic beach has been capturing hearts from netizens and while you’re still saving up for your dream trip to Batanes, a three to four-hour drive to Pangasinan will definitely be worth it.

Bagbag Beach

Now dubbed as Pangasinan’s “Little Batanes”, BagBag Beach is Pangasinan’s hidden paradise. The beach offers white sand, rock formations perfect for picture-taking, and a stunning view of the nearby Hundred Islands National Park from a distance.

Bagbag Beach is located in Sual, Pangasinan. According to previous visitors, the highway at Barangay Baybay Norte resembles the zigzag roads in Baguio. To get there, visitors must on a 30-minute trek in a forest-like portion of the beach. At the end of the mini-forest is a canopy of bamboo trees that leads to the postcard-like beach and rock formations.

If you’re not in the mood to swim in the cool waters yet, you can go for another hike in the beach area to get to the real deal. Resembling Batanes’ picturesque hillsides, the view at Bagbag Beach’s hills is as divine.

Lined with lush grass, the hills offer a panoramic view of the sea and the beach’s rock formations – a Batanes-like view without the expensive tickets! It’s a view that’s definitely worth the extra hike.

According to PNA, tourists can rent cottages made by locals for Php 200-300 a day.

For visitors driving to the scenic beach, privately-owned parking lots charge between Php 20 and Php 100, which depends on the type of vehicle.

Though the municipality of Sual, Pangasinan has only opened tourism for residents in the Ilocos Region, Bagbag Beach is definitely worth the few hours’ drive once travel restrictions ease.
