Intramuros has always been a special place in Manila, being a window to our long history. Today, its cobblestone streets, century-old churches, and stone fortresses stand in stark contrast to the modern metropolis the rest of Metro Manila has become. Which is why exploring Intramuros is a must for anyone interested in our country’s history. And the best way to explore the Walled City is on foot. Good thing the Intramuros Administration has FREE guided walking tours every weekend.

Intramuros’ guided walking tours

ICYDK, since late 2025, the Intramuros Administration has offered free guided walking tours on Saturdays and Sundays, led by DOT-accredited Intramuros Administration guides. The tours focus on Fort Santiago and Casa Manila.

A historic 16th-century Spanish citadel located within Intramuros, Fort Santiago served as Manila’s primary military defense fortress for centuries. It is best known today as a national landmark where José Rizal was imprisoned prior to his execution in 1896.

Meanwhile, Casa Manila is a museum in Intramuros housed in a meticulously reconstructed 19th-century Spanish colonial mansion that depicts the opulent lifestyle and furnishings of an upper-class ilustrado family. Located in Plaza San Luis, it offers visitors an authentic glimpse into domestic life and interior design during the late Spanish period in the Philippines.

Where and where are the guided walking tours?

The walking tours are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday, at two time slots per day: 9 AM and 4 PM.

Tours at Fort Santiago last approximately 1 hour, while those at Casa Manila last about 30 minutes.

Is the tour really free?

How many people can join the guided walking tours?

Only 25 slots are available per batch, and they’re available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are accepted, as they only take walk-in visitors.
