Going on a short road trip is always a fun activity, whether is for a date or a random day trip with loved ones. For the next time you need a breath of fresh air, bookmark these gallery cafes near the metro:

 

Eskinita Art Farm

Location: 353 & 355 Purok 5, Barangay Janopol Occidental, Tanauan, Batangas

For art enthusiasts, you might have already heard of Eskinita Art Gallery in Makati, and this spot in Tanauan, Batangas is its provincial extension. Eskenita Art Farm is run by artist Alfredo Esquillo; they renovated a three-story ancestral home to serve as its main gallery. They host exhibitions as well as programs for an art residency and mentoring for young artists at Eskenita, and have an in-house cafe, Lokalbeans.

Operating hours: Tuesdays to Sundays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Kalyehon Café

Kalyehon Cafe was born from the Buxani family’s love of art and coffee. This homey cafe is nestled in a small alley – a little adventure for fans of lowkey and hidden spots. Embracing its provincial setting, the art cafe features a structure that would remind you of an old Pinoy home given a modern twist. From old sewing machines to the rocking chairs in the garden, Kalyehon is a safe haven for those who want to appreciate art and great-tasting coffee. They also host various exhibitions featuring the owner, Richard Buxani’s art, and other local artists.

Operating hours: Daily from 1 PM to 10 PM, except Wednesdays.

Alitaptap Art Café

Location: Alitaptap Artists’ Community, Purok 7, Halang-Alingaro Rd, Brgy. Halang, Amadeo, Cavite

Surrounded by lush trees and a garden, Alitaptap Art Café is run by a family of artists in Cavite. The art-themed spot is perfect for those looking to dine alfresco and breathe in fresh air while admiring featured artists on its walls. If you’re visiting at night, you might also catch the occasional acoustic sets where they invite local artists. Aside from the gallery café, Alitaptap also has a Recreational Hub where you’ll find camping grounds, kubo accommodations, a swimming pool, and fun games.

If you’re visiting Acienda Designer Outlet in Cavite for some shopping, catch a break or rest your tired feet (and wallet) at Balinsasayaw Gallery and Café. This nature café is just right across Acienda, so looking for it shouldn’t be difficult! The gallery cafe can be found inside Balinsasayaw Lalaan Uno, which is also the home of a restaurant and events place. If you’re looking into venue options for an upcoming event and want an alfresco setting, this spot is worth adding to your list as well.

Sulyap Gallery Cafe

Location: Sulyap Compound, Brgy. Del Remedio, San Pablo City, Laguna

If you’re planning a weekend full of art, history, and Filipino cuisine, Sulyap Gallery Cafe will be one of the books. Set in a two-hectare lot in San Pablo, Laguna, Sulyap’s main attraction is its famous gallery and restaurant, where you can enjoy its best-selling dishes “kulawo” made out of puso ng saging or eggplant and “pinayti” that’s made out of micro-shrimps farmed in Lake Palakpakin. A trip here will let you travel to the past with its colonial architecture; you can also explore the in-house museum where you’ll find hundreds of antique collections. Sulyap is also a bed and breakfast – you’ll get to stay in rooms boasting the same architecture.
