This Halloween, Discover the Dark Side of Manila’s Walled City with ‘One Night in Intramuros’

What secrets do these walls hold?
by | October 22, 2020

Halloween is a fun holiday for creativity and parties. It’s a night where dressing up as your favorite character, and celebrating the dead, and covering yourself with blood is totally acceptable. However, just like other holidays this year, we’ll have to say goodbye to parties and trick-or-treating due to the pandemic. If you don’t have plans for Halloween yet, this virtual tour of Intramuros is worth tuning in to.

One Night in Intramuros

The walled city of Intramuros is a sight to behold in the daytime: hundreds of years of history preserved in its buildings and landmarks. We often visit to appreciate and learn about our history but we rarely ever hear of its secrets. What could be hidden within Intramuros’ walls?

In 2019, WanderManila, Puesto Manila, and popular Filipino graphic novel Trese hosted “One Night in Intramuros”, a highly successful night tour where participants got to go on a ghost tour in the walled city followed by a party after.

On October 30, WanderManila is bringing this tour straight to our homes via a livestream on their Facebook page.

What secrets is the Walled City hiding? WanderManila will take its audience to see the darker side of the old city: “tales of intrigue, passion, and jealousy, of violence, and death,” as the group shared on their post. Expect to hear stories and anecdotes about Intramuros you’ve probably never heard of before, which will also be shared during the virtual tour.

The livestream will begin at 9 PM. It’s free and registration is not required to participate in this event. But if you want to support these events and initiatives, do leave a tip for the organizers so that they can keep offering similar experiences.
