Heads up, Studio Ghibli fans! While we dream of a trip to Japan and explore Ghibli Park in Nagoya, a new cafe will give you the same vibes and it’s just at a local destination. If Bacolod is on your local bucket list, don’t forget to visit Cafe Alley and feel like you’re in the world of Studio Ghibli.

Cafe Alley

Thousands of Studio Ghibli fans are constantly trying their luck to score tickets to the Ghibli Park in Japan, but at this newly-opened cafe, no entrance is needed and you’ll get to feel like you’re in the anime world too. Cafe Alley is the first Ghibli-inspired cafe in Bacolod City and it has detailed murals of scenes from iconic films such as Whisper of the Heart (1995), How’s Moving Castle (2004), and My Neighbor Totoro (1988).

Don’t forget to visit with your friends and have a fun game of how many movies and characters you’ll be able to recognize on the walls.

The menu

From Ghibli-inspired desserts to meals, Cafe Alley offers a variety of food and beverages for every type of visitor. For a dose of caffeine, their coffee-based drinks start at P40 for an espresso shot.

Cafe Latte (P75)

If you plan on visiting for a meal, Cafe Alley also serves an all-day breakfast menu such as Calcifer’s Bacon (P180), Homestyle Beef Tapa (P180), and Tasty Tocino (P120). This breakfast menu is fondly named Mark’s All-Day Breakfast, from the movie Howl’s Moving Castle.

These dishes are served with rice and a choice of sunny side up or scrambled egg. Rice meals are also available for their main course.

Cafe Alley also has a selection of pasta dishes, with Creamy Pesto Pasta (P150) as one of their best sellers. If you’ve ever tried what Ponyo’s ramen tastes like, don’t forget to order Ponyo’s Sukiyaki Noodle Soup (P250).
