During the country’s feudal past, Fukuoka Castle stood tall as the largest castle on Kyushu Island. However, during the Meiji Restoration it was destroyed and left in a ruinous state. Fast forward to today, visitors can walk around Maizuru Park to imagine the grandeur of the towering fortress.
