Taking a breather shouldn't require a long drive.

Sometimes, all you need is a little change of scenery to put your phone down. But in Metro Manila, finding a place to chill without spending money can feel like a side quest. And maybe that’s why the concept of a linear park has such quiet appeal.
A linear park is usually a strip of public land that’s much longer than it’s wide, laid along something the city already had—a creek, an old rail line, or a river. These often-overlooked areas let you hit 10k steps without distractions.
Taking a breather shouldn’t require a long drive or a huge chunk of your weekend plan. Here are 8 linear parks in and outside Metro Manila worth checking out.
1. Valencia Linear Park (Quezon City)

Quezon City has welcomed a new green space for residents with the opening of Valencia Linear Park. Even better, its landscape design incorporated permeable surfaces and a drainage system to help manage rainwater and address flooding in the area. While it isn’t a sprawling park where you can spend an entire day, it’s another option for nearby residents looking for fresh air and a chance to stretch their legs.
2. Buting Linear Park (Pasig City)

The Ilaya Buting Linear Park is Pasig City’s third linear park, and it’s built for the whole barangay. Spanning about 3,170 square meters, this linear park includes a mini playground, a half-court basketball court, exercise equipment, and restrooms. The PHP 24.8 million project was done under the Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) ‘Green, Green, Green’ program aimed at creating safer and more accessible green spaces.
3. BGC Greenway Park (Taguig)

If your idea of a well-deserved break involves a peaceful stroll or an early-morning run, the BGC Greenway Park deserves a spot in your usual office-mall-cafe rotation. Lined with lush trees and a quiet pathway, it’s a great spot for anyone looking to squeeze some movement into their day. You’re also welcome to bring your furbabies as long as they’re properly leashed and you clean up after them.
4. Cloverleaf Linear Park (Quezon City)

The Cloverleaf Linear Park is one to consider when you’re in the Balintawak area and want to enjoy a slower pace for a change. This was designed as a continuous green strip linking Ayala Malls Cloverleaf to the nearby Avida and Alveo residences. It’s a great spot to catch a breath of fresh air, with native trees such as kaningag, malak-malak, palo maria, and malabulak lining the park.
5. East Bank Linear Park and Skate Park (Pasig City)

The East Bank Linear Park and Skate Park is home to Pasig City’s first public skate park. The roughly 3,180-square-meter space has a fenced skate area, a mini pavilion, public restrooms, and an umbrella shed with benches, as well as plant boxes, gazebos for picnics, and murals. But even if you’re not planning to hop on a skateboard, you can still visit to enjoy the outdoors and watch the local skate community practice their board tricks.
6. Polo Riverwalk (Valenzuela City)

Picture this: you’re walking along a river, surrounded by greenery, without having to leave Metro Manila. That’s the idea behind the Polo Riverwalk. The initial 2.5-kilometer stretch opened earlier this year, offering walking and jogging paths, cycling lanes, landscaped gardens, and a bamboo grove that makes a cool green corridor.
7. Marikina River Park (Marikina)

For a riverside outing with plenty of open space to move around, Marikina River Park is the place to be. Set along the Marikina River, this recreational area has long been a go-to destination for residents looking to take a break from doomscrolling or enjoy outdoor activities. The Marikina River Park is far from a simple walking path, with picnic grounds, gardens, a gazebo, an amphitheater, and even a roller skating rink.
8. Cainta Linear Park (Cainta, Rizal)

Cainta is also making room for more public green spaces after opening its first linear park this month, creating another recreational spot for residents and community activities. Keep this on your radar, as the municipality plans to build four more linear parks in the future.
