Widely known as one of the most scenic train trips one could take, it meanders along the hills and up the lush peaks of Sri Lanka’s Hill Country, giving you remarkable sights of villages, waterfalls, and sweeping tea plantations.

Trips to Ella from Kandy easily get sold out, and sometimes, you might even have to stand a few minutes or hours into the journey. Don’t worry, though, because it doesn’t ruin the experience. If anything, it makes the ride even more exciting, as you get to interact with more locals.
