Shirakawago in Gifu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for the traditional houses you’ll find in it. Some of these homes are more than two centuries old! The wooden houses amid the farmland backdrop are simply picturesque. The viewpoint provides you with overlooking views. You can walk around the village to buy souvenirs or get a glimpse of how the locals lived centuries ago. This destination is a possible day trip, but many would recommend to spend at least a night in one of the farmhouses.
