The peace and quiet you’re looking for in the other more popular beaches in Sri Lanka is something you’ll find south of the country in Weligama Beach. Another beach friendly to first-timers or those relearning surfing, Weligama has a large number of sand-bottomed breaks as well as consistent swells for most part of the year. If you want to see a piece of history, try visiting Taprobane Island, a small rock island with a villa built by a French count and pre-owned by several famous personalities.
