There are some songs that are so catchy that they automatically get stuck in your head or strike a chord in your heart. Music brings out a lot of emotions, make you feel things you’ve never felt, and inspire you to do things you’ve never done. Some songs take you to places you’ve never been. In this list, we talk about songs that make you feel as if you were in the places that the artists made these songs about.

Don’t know where to go? Listen to these:

Kokomo  (The Beach Boys)

In the song Kokomo by The Beach Boys, they do not refer to the city of Indiana but rather a fictional place that represents most people’s idea of an Island Paradise. It’s a song about escaping the dreary work life and heading for the tropics. It’s really catchy too, so if you’re stuck at home just close your eyes and visualize the awesome places: “Aruba, Jamaica, oooh, I want to take you to Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty momma”

Copacabana (Barry Manilow)

The Copacabana was a famous night club in New York that was named after a street in Rio de Janeiro. Barry Manilow’s Grammy winning hit tells a story of two lovers in the Copacabana. It has a great vibe to it and will make you wish you were partying in night clubs during the 70s. It beats EDM any day.

California Dreamin’ (The Mamas & The Papas)

California Dreamin’ is a classic anthem written by the Mamas & The Papas. It’s about wanting to leave a dull winter town and head straight for sunny Los Angeles. As the song suggests, it’s only a dream so it’s great to listen to when your daydreaming about all the places you want to go.

San Francisco (Scott McKenzie)

San Francisco by Scott McKenzie is a testament of how San Francisco was during the hippie movement in the 60’s. It portrays the people’s affinity for peace and love. In his song, you can just feel that he is telling people to come to San Francisco with a peaceful vibe. It kind of makes you want to turn back the clock and be there! Then again, there are still a lot of hippies frolicking around the streets of San Francisco.

He also iterates that he has no care if he loses all his money because he’s just there to have a great time. What a feeling to have, right? Well, you can almost feel his excitement by listening to Viva Las Vegas.

Empire State of Mind (Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys)

This song features Jay-Z’s mad rapping skills accompanied by Alicia Keys voice that bellows from the New York subways to the top of the Manhattan Skyline. It’s a tribute to the city of dreams, and a great one at that. One listen to this song will make you wish you were in the Big Apple right now!

Alapaap (Eraserheads)

Alapaap is the Tagalog word for a cloud. In this song, Ely Buendia sings about wanting to fly to the edge of the world and is inviting you to come along. It’s a song about not holding back and just moving forward… or upward in this case. It’s a Filipino cult classic and an all-around great song with a good vibe. Just listening to it will make you want to fly away like a cloud.
