One of the seven ancient universities of Britain and Ireland, Trinity College was modeled after Universities of Oxford and Cambridge when it was founded in 1592. One of its iconic buildings is the Old Library, which has a Baroque style and houses more than 6.2 million printed volumes of manuscripts, music, and maps. Located inside the Old Library is the Long Room, which houses 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books, as well as a rare copy of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic.
