Other Names: Manila Cathedral, Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Tagged as the “Mother of all churches, cathedrals, and basilicas in the Philippines,” the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica is the only church in the country elevated to the rank of a Basilica by the Pope in 1981. The grandiose Neo-Romanesque structure covers an area of nearly 3,000 square meters and features a marble altar piece depicting souls in Purgatory being assisted by angels, raising their prayer to the Virgin Mary.
