A trip to Mongolia is incomplete without making at least a day trip to nearby national parks. Ulaanbaatar is a big city and has low-cost of living, but most people visit the country to explore and discover its great outdoors. There are grasslands, rolling, verdant hills, snow-capped mountains, deserts and even vast wastelands that stretch for hundreds of kilometers. Each destination offers trekking opportunities, and horseback or camel riding or climbing up sand dunes.
