Austria’s second biggest city is considered as its most easygoing, so there’s no surprise Graz landed on the list.

The capital city of the southern Austrian province of Styria, Graz is a charming city of red rooftops, pockets of green, and a gushing narrow river, giving the place a fairy tale-like ambiance. Its architecture is a good mix of Medieval Eastern European and Italian Renaissance influences, creating an interesting fusion of designs. Unexpectedly, this archaic city pulses with youthful spirit, as it caters to a large student population of about 50,000 in four universities. That means city quirks here and there, a robust art scene, and exciting nightlife.
