If you’re a fan of the movie Zombieland or video game The Last of Us, you probably want to experience walking through an abandoned amusement park. I don’t know about you, but there’s something hauntingly beautiful about abandoned places, with their overgrown weeds, empty hallways, and corroded structures.

Fantasy World, along the Diokno Highway in Brgy. Mayasang, Lemery, Batangas is one of those places where you can get that eerie post-apocalyptic feel.

This aging medieval-inspired theme park was once envisioned to be a world-class family entertainment facility, amusement, and recreation club park. It was never finished, but it’s rising in popularity as a destination for photo walks.

Situated on top of a hill, Fantasy World offers great views of Taal Lake and the lush greenery of Batangas. The castle and the structures around it provide an interesting backdrop for photographers looking for a certain style for photo shoots.

Peach Sancho Lladoc shared some of her cool photos inside the park on Instagram while she was scouting for a location for a Gothic-themed photo shoot for a friend.

“Compared to regular amusement parks, you get this unique abandoned feel here because none of the rides work and it’s not crowded. You can imagine that you’re in a real castle where everyone who used to live there just disappeared,” she shares.

According to Lladoc, the castle offers something new in terms of concept photography because most prenuptial shoot are set in beaches.

The park contains several theme park rides, such as a mini-Ferris wheel, roller coasters, and mechanical swings, but they are not operational. You can also climb up the castle towers to get a bird’s eye view of the park.

Technically, Fantasy World is not totally abandoned since you need to pay an entrance fee to gain access to it. However, the aging structures and lack of visitors make the place ideal for those who don’t want hordes of photo-bombers in the background.

The park is maintained for basic cleanliness and has small, but clean restrooms. They also have a food stall inside serving basic meals, chips, soda and coolers. Visitors are no longer allowed to bring food and drinks inside for medieval-themed picnics as previously reported in other blogs.

Entrance to Fantasy World is at PHP1,000 for up to 10 guests. If you’re a solo traveler, you’ll have to fork out the same amount to get in. For prenuptial pictorials and photo shoots requiring professional cameras and equipment, the management charges PHP5,000.00

On a budget? You can always take a photo of the castle from the highway.
