You better have an interesting life story to tell if you choose to be buried in Merry Cemetery, where each grave exposes the deceased’s cause of death, if not the most gossip-worthy events their life (juicy stories about womanizers, anyone?). A tradition initiated by Stan Ioan Pătraş in 1935, local carpenters create the markers and compose the epigraphs that are either darkly humorous or downright savage.
